Video: Assist Studio Collaborates with Axtell, Nebraska
Husker students are helping a small town make big plans.
The central Nebraska village of Axtell, located south of Kearney, is looking to attract more businesses and amenities to the community. To help, leaders invited University of Nebraska–Lincoln architecture students to set up a tent on Main Street, meet residents and learn what makes Axtell unique.
The student group included architecture majors, landscape architects and interior designers.
Nate Bicak, associate professor of interior design in the College of Architecture, said the experience gave students a valuable opportunity to practice their soft skills in a real-world setting.
The class will present its ideas and recommendations to the community during a public meeting in November.
