Two female-led dramas, "Seven Veils" and "Armand," open March 7 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

In "Seven Veils," earnest theatre director Jeanine has been given the task of remounting her former mentor's most famous work, the opera Salome. Haunted by dark and disturbing memories from her past, she allows her repressed trauma to color the present as she re-enters the opera world after so many years away. Renowned director Atom Egoyan ("The Sweet Hereafter") reunites with Amanda Seyfried in this visually stunning, propulsive work, filmed on location during the staging of Egoyan’s acclaimed production of “Salome.”

"Seven Veils" is not rated and is showing through March 13.

"Armand" follows defamed actress Elisabeth (Renate Reinsve), who is abruptly called into a parent-teacher meeting after hours, and is presented with scathing allegations that trigger a tangled web of accusations between parents and faculty. As Elisabeth struggles to uncover the truth amid the empty school rooms and dark corridors, a chaotic fight for redemption arises where desire, madness and obsession prevail.

"Armand" is rated R and is showing through March 13.
