The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is in a close race with the University of Wisconsin in the final days of Abbott's 2025 Big Ten We Give Blood challenge.

As of 8:30 a.m. Dec. 3, Nebraska has logged 13,914 donations, trailing Wisconsin’s 14,609. Across the conference, the challenge has helped save an estimated 235,722 lives.

Huskers still have plenty of chances to make an impact. Blood drives continue through Dec. 5, including on-campus opportunities at St. Mark’s, Abel-Sandoz, and the Harper-Schramm-Smith-Village residence hall complex. The biggest push comes Dec. 4-5, culminating in the Beat the Badgers — Final We Give Blood Drive at Union Plaza, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 5.

Upcoming blood drives:

  • Dec. 3 — St. Mark’s on Campus | Sponsored by the American Red Cross | Register to donate.
  • Dec. 1 — S Street, south of the plaza, 1 to 6 p.m. | Sponsored by Nebraska Community Blood Bank | Register to donate.
  • Dec. 2 — Abel-Sandoz residence halls, noon to 5 p.m. | Sponsored by Nebraska Community Blood Bank | Register to donate.
  • Dec. 2 — “S” Street, south of the plaza, 1 to 6 p.m. | Register to donate.
  • Dec. 4 — Harper-Schramm-Smith-Village residence halls, noon to 5 p.m. | Register to donate.
  • Dec. 5 — Beat the Badgers: Final We Give Blood Drive, Nebraska Union Plaza, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Register to donate.

Any blood donation made and logged between Aug. 27 and Dec. 5 counts toward Nebraska’s total, even if it isn’t given at a local drive. Each pint can save up to three lives, supporting trauma victims, mothers after childbirth, surgical patients and people undergoing cancer treatment.

To log a donation made after Aug. 27, visit BigTen.org/Abbott or text DONATE to 222688.

Every donation matters as Husker Nation works to reclaim the We Give Blood title.
