
Public plant sales hosted by the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum begin May 2. The season offers more greenhouse plant sales overall, including expanded Saturday hours.
The sales include native and well-adapted perennials for sun and shade, plus grasses, herbs, trees and shrubs. Members of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum receive a 15% discount at all spring plant sales. The arboretum accepts credit and debit cards and checks; no cash.
Sales are held at Nebraska Statewide Arboretum greenhouses, 2150 N. 38th Street, unless otherwise noted. the schedule includes:
- May 1 — NSA members only, 4 to 7 p.m.;
- May 2, 16, 23 and 30 — 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.;
- May 3, 17, 24 and 31 — 9 a.m. to noon;
- May 10 — Omaha plant sale, 9 a.m. to noon, Douglas-Sarby Extension Office, 8015 W. Center Road;
- June 7 — Wildflower Week plant sale, 8:30 to 11 a.m. (MDT), 1210 Overland Trails Road, Gering;
- June 13 and 17 — 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.;
- June 14 — 9 a.m. to noon;
- June 21 — Fontanelle Forest/Camp Brewster plant sale, 9 a.m. to noon, 1313 Bellevue Blvd. North, Bellevue; and
- June 21 — Mini Plant Sale at the Pollinator Party, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Schramm Education Center, 21502 NE-31, Gretna.
The arboretum also hosts Spring Affair, the largest plant sale on the Great Plains. The event is April 24-26 at Sandhills Global Event Center, 4100 N. 84th St. Tickets to the event preview sale, 7 to 9 p.m. April 24, are $20 for members and $25 for non-members, and available online.
