Claire Gangwish, a sophomore, prepares to hit the Highstriker’s bell with a hammer during the End of the Year Bash on East Campus May 8.

Students capped off the 2024-25 academic year with activities including the End of the Year Bash, Big Red Finale, FriYay Unwind Fest, and Big Red Pawp Ups. The special events gave students the chance to unwind and relax between study sessions for final exams, which conclude May 16.

  • Students from Mission Middle School in Bellevue, Nebraska, visited campus May 14. They learned about preparing for college and visited many sites, including Memorial Stadium and Morrill Hall. Learn more at https://go.unl.edu/v56s.
  • Sarah Person will graduate May 17 with a bachelor’s degree in sports media and communications and broadcasting. She posted a few photos taken on campus with a note of thanks to the university. “Ever since I was 7 years old, it’s always been my dream to be a Husker.   • Chancellor Rodney D. Bennett toured the Professional Golf Management Program’s facilities with students and faculty in the program. Learn more at https://go.unl.edu/vo93.
  • Students in the class Embedded Systems participated in a spring semester robot competition. The course is taught by Jeff Falkinburg, associate professor of practice. Students were instructed to drive programmed robots around a wall for 20 feet while being timed and navigating obstacles. Learn more at https://go.unl.edu/dhba.
