University Fleet Management adjusts rental plans for new fiscal year

Line of colorful cars.

To better align with industry standards, University Fleet Management is rolling out a streamlined vehicle rental pricing plan for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Rentals will be offered in two distinct categories — short-term (less than one year) and long term (one year or longer). The reorganization, which goes into effect July 1, replaces a broader classification system and draws the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s rental program in closer alignment with industry standards.

Short-term rentals will be billed at a daily rate, capped at 21 billable days per calendar month. The long-term rentals will operate on a monthly billing cycle. Vehicles rented under long-term plans but returned prior to the one-year threshold will be charged at the equivalent short-term rate for the actual rental period.

Existing short-term rentals dispatched before July 1 will be charged at the new 2025-26 daily rates. Charges will not exceed the corresponding monthly rental cap based on the prior structure.
