Sheldon Museum of Art will screen "The Poseidon Adventure" February 15.

Sheldon Museum of Art will screen "The Poseidon Adventure" 6 p.m. Feb. 15.

In conjunction with the exhibition “Donald Sultan: The Disaster Paintings,” Sheldon Museum of Art is showing three popular cinema disaster films — “The Poseidon Adventure,” “Twister” and “Contagion.”

The films will be screened in Sheldon’s Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium. Admission is free.

The series begins 6 p.m. Feb. 15 with “The Poseidon Adventure.” This 1972 film tells the story of passengers who fight for survival after their ship, the S.S. Poseidon, is swamped by a 90-foot-tall tidal wave.

“Twister” shows on March 1, while “Contagion” plays April 12.

The disaster film series is co-sponsored by Sheldon and the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. Learn more about the film series and the museum’s current exhibitions.
